The pure cotton mesh that we produce is knitted from biodegradable 100% cotton thread. After packing, the mesh degrades so there is no residue left on the rope at harvest.

We use one type of 100% cotton yarn, with two different thread counts available. Details are given in the table below.

Yarn Type Pure Cotton
Name     A 56 H
% Cotton Content  100
% Polyester Content 0
Average Knitted Width (Stretched) (mm) 310
Thread Count*   16/1 20/1

*The thread count is indicative of the yarn weight and strength. For example, 16/1 yarn is approximately 20% heavier and stronger than 20/1 yarn.  Therefore, while 16/1 yarn is easier for operators to use the 20/1 yarn, although more delicate, has a longer knitted length per kilogram.

An approximation of knitted mesh length for each yarn is as follows:

1kg 20/1 yarn = 200m knitted mesh

1kg 16/1 yarn = 160m knitted mesh
